Traffic diversions have been announced in the light of repair works commencing on the Kodambakkam bridge from November 23.
The diversions will be as follows:
The Kodambakkam Bridge will be closed for heavy vehicles and goods vehicles on all days (both ways). Light vehicles will be permitted (both ways) from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the bridge will be fully closed for all vehicles with effect from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m.
On Saturdays and Sundays all vehicles including MTC Buses coming from Vadapalani towards Kodambakkam bridge will be diverted at Liberty junction towards Vishwanathanpuram Main Road, Station view Road, Rangarajapuram Flyover, North Usman Road, North Usman Point (Under the bridge) take right towards Valluvarkottam to reach their destination.
The MTC buses coming from Valluvarkottam towards Kodambakkam bridge will be diverted towards Thirumalaipillai Road, Bazullah Road Junction, Rangarajapuram Flyover, Chakkarapani Street, Five Light Junction, Vishwanathapuram Main Road, Liberty Junction to reach Vadapalani and reach their desitination.
Traffic will be allowed on both ways on Rengarajapuram flyover — from Station View Road and from Bazulla Road and North Usman Road Junction.
Vehicles coming from Mahalingapuram Flyover intending to go to T.Nagar will be diverted towards Habibullah Road, Sadhasivam Road, Raghaviah road and Rohini roundabout to reach their destination.
Vehicles coming from Mahalingapuram flyover intending to go to Vadapalani will be diverted towards Habibullah Road, Sadasivam Road, Bazullah Road, Rangarajapuram flyover, Chakkarapani Street and Five Light Junction.
MTC buses coming from Madley Road subway cannot proceed towards Usman Road flyover. They should take the right to Burkit Road, Thanikachalam Road, Dr.Nair Road, Vani Mahal, Thirumalai Pillai road and Valluvarkottam to reach their destination.
Other light vehicles coming from Madley Road intending to go to Valluvarkottam or Mahalingapuram will take compulsory left at Bazullah Road Junction and take “U” turn underneath Rangarajapuram flyover and take a left turn into North Usman Road to reach their destination.
Light vehicles coming from Madley intending to go to Vadapalani will take the Rangarajapuram Fly over, Chakkarapani Street, Five Lights Junction, Viswanathapuram Main Road, Arcot Road to reach their destination. This arrangement is likely to be in place for the next two months, according to traffic police sources.
