Bid to ease congestion on Vaithiyanathan Street

To ease flow of vehicular traffic on Vaithiyanathan Street in Tondiarpet, traffic police have announced certain temporary changes that will come into effect from Saturday. According to an official press release, the stretch of Vaithyanathan Street from Vaithyanathan bridge up to Senniamman Koil Street junction will be made one way, with entry from Vaithyanathan bridge and no entry from Senniamman Koil junction.

Motorists coming from T.H. Road intending to go towards Vaithyanathan bridge should take left at Senniamman Koil Street junction. To take Senniamman Koil Street, turn right to Kailasam Street and again take the right to Ilaya Mudhali Street.

Kailasam Street will be made one-way with entry from Senniamman Koil Street junction and no entry from Illaya Mudhalai Street.

Motorists coming from Illayamudhali Street towards Senniamman Koil Street should go straight and take left to take the route via service road below Vaithiyanathan Bridge - Vaithyanathan Street – Senniamman Koil Street - New Vaithiyanathan Street – T.H. Road – Vaithyanathan Street.

The changes are on an experimental basis and will continue till March 13, the release said.
