The police have announced traffic changes in T.Nagar in view of the Deepavali shoppers' crowd. The changes come into effect from 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to a release, the Panagal flyover would be made one-way with entry from North Usman Road to Madley Junction. Autorickshaws would not be allowed to access Panagal Park from Thyagaraya Road and Thanikachalam Road junction; Brindavan Road junction; Coats Road; North Usman Service Road; and from Rohini roundabout. They would not be allowed to access Madley junction from Muthurangan Salai, Kannammapet junction, Burkit Road and Dhandapani Street junction, North Usman Road and Maharajapuram Santhanam Salai junction. They would not be allowed to access the Madley Road junction or the Usman Road using side streets through Dhandapani Street. They would not be allowed access to South Usman Road using side streets from South Dhandapani Street.

Temporary parking would be provided for 30 autorickshaws on Burkit Road, Dhandapani Street, Venkatnarayana Road and for 50 autorickshaws on Bashyam Road and Coats Road.

Vehicles transporting goods would not be allowed to enter T. Nagar between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Parking slots would be made available for 50 cars on Muthurangan Salai; for 200 cars on G.N. Chetty Road; 100 cars around Somasundaram playground; 100 cars on the western side of Thyagaraya Road; 50 cars on V.N. Road, and 100 cars on the northern side of Burkit Road. Provision would be made to park 500 two-wheelers on the eastern side of Thyagaraya Road.

On holidays, parking would be provided for 200 two-wheelers each at the Corporation Higher Secondary School on Prakasam Road; Ramakrishna Main School and Ramakrishna School (south), Burkit Road.
