Frontier Lifeline Hospital is collaborating with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia on a number of projects, one of which is to develop new, lost-cost cardiac devices.
The hospital’s chief executive officer K.M. Cherian and his team will perform heart surgeries on two Indian patients, sponsored by UNSW and the Department of Foreign Affairs and trade, a press release said.
Craig McLachlan, director of the rural clinical school at UNSW said: “We are keen to work with our Indian colleagues on socially-conscious projects that lessen the financial burden on patients from poor families.”
“This collaboration is the key to progress in the development of UNSW cardiac devices, either from an academic research or commercial partner perspective,” he said.
