For the second day in a row, the city Police Commissioner Karan Singha on Saturday visited several congested areas in the city to find out ways to regulate vehicular traffic on roads. Immediately after taking charge as Commissioner, Mr. Singha had stated that easing traffic was one of his priorities.

On Friday, he visited Linghi Chetty Street, Thambiah Chetty Street, NSC Bose Road, Puraswalkam and a few other places.

Following the instruction of the Commissioner, Additional Commissioner A.K. Singh and other officers held talks with traders of Linghi Chetty Street and Thambu Chetty Street.

Mr. Singh said that vehicles were parked in a haphazard manner on the streets. To begin with, the police will implement one-side parking on Linghi Chetty Street. “They should not keep the vehicles permanently on the road. Loading and unloading using mini-vehicles should be done only between 12 noon and 4 p.m,” he said.
