Many places in north Tamil Nadu may continue to enjoy moderate showers for two or three more days.

Chennai too may get thundershowers during the evening or nights during the weekend. In the past 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Friday, Kancheepuram recorded rainfall of 4 cm. Ennore, Poonamallee and the automatic rain gauge on Kamarajar Salai also recorded a good spell of rains.

Chennai will experience a cloudy sky and a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius till Sunday.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas during evening or night till Sunday.

Officials of the Meteorological Department said districts in north Tamil Nadu may get fairly widespread rain on Saturday.

Places in south Tamil Nadu are likely to get scattered rain. Officials cited convective activity to be the reason behind the steady rain spell. Showers since early this month have boosted the seasonal rainfall in the State. Tamil Nadu has received 24 cm of rainfall so far, which is 30% excess than the average rainfall for the season since June 1.
