It was the last IPL match in the city this year. The cloud of uncertainty that hovered over the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium had cleared.

Questions about the three contentious stands and related issues had been put to rest — if only temporarily.

Nothing really mattered on Tuesday evening except the excitement of rooting for the home team.

The sixth edition of IPL proved to be a fulfilling experience for fans of the game in the city. Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) ability to provide nail-biting finishes kept fans on the edge but they did not complain as long as the team found its way to victory.

For some like Vimalesh, a 29-year-old software engineer, the team ‘exceeded expectations’ and for others, like 21-year-old engineering student, Vivek, the tournament itself was ‘great entertainment’.

Enthusiastic cheerleaders apart, a dancing Dwayne Bravo and ‘Sir’ Ravindra Jadeja jokes enriched the overall experience and jubilant fans relished every moment of it.

On the final day, CSK batsmen obliged their fans. A range of lusty blows by ‘Captain Cool’ M.S. Dhoni kept the crowd on its feet even as chants of ‘Dhoni’ rent the air. The match ended with a heist, quite like the script that played out all season.

The ‘yellow brigade’ engulfed the MAC stadium for one last time this season and ensured a rapturous farewell for the team that embarked on its journey into the play-offs.
