Three people died in different accidents since Tuesday night on GST Road between Pallavaram and Maraimalai Nagar.

S. Devanathan, working as an assistant manager at a private bank in Kancheepuram, was returning home on a motorcycle, around 9 p.m., with his colleague Balasubramanian, when a speeding lorry hit the motorcycle at Perungalathur.

While Devanathan died on the spot, Balasubramanian is undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Devanathan was a resident of Santhi Nagar in Gowrivakkam and Balasubramanian lives in neighbouring Santhoshapuram.

The duo would normally travel to Kancheepuram by bus, but had gone by motorcycle on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Lingesan (31) was critically injured after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a lorry near Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road overbridge on GST Road. Pillion rider Manivasagam, too, sustained injuries.

Lingesan, who succumbed to his injuries later, belonged to Gowl Bazaar, while Manivasagam is a resident of Pozhichalur. They were on their way to Thoraipakkam.

On Wednesday morning, Chithirai (54) died on the spot when an unknown vehicle hit the motorcycle in which he was travelling.

A resident of Aayankunnam village near Achirapakkam in Kancheepuram district, he was visiting his son Arun, a marketing executive, in Besant Nagar.

On Wednesday, Chithirai was riding pillion when an unknown vehicle hit the motorcycle that his son was riding. While Chithirai died on the spot, Arun escaped with minor injuries. The accident took place opposite the Ford factory at Maraimalai Nagar.
