: The Madras High Court on Monday granted bail to three persons arrested in the BSNL telephone exchange case.
Justice P.Devadass passed the order on petitions by V.Gowthaman, the then Additional Personal Secretary to the former Minister for Communication, Dayanidhi Maran; S.Kannan, Chief Technical Officer of Sun TV Network and K.S.Ravi, an electrician.
The Judge said that in the facts and circumstances of the case, the detention of the three remand prisoners was unnecessary.
Mr.Justice Devadass said that while Mr.Gowthaman and Mr. S.Kannan should execute a bond for Rs.50,000 and furnish two sureties each for a like sum, Mr.Ravi should execute a bond for Rs.15,000 and two sureties for a like sum each.
The petitioners should appear before the investigation officer daily at the CBI Office here until further orders. They should surrender their passport. In case they did not have a passport, they should swear to an affidavit.
