Three charred to death as car catches fire

Three passengers of a car died on the spot at Manamai near Mamallapuram on Saturday night after the vehicle caught fire.

Around 8 p.m., the Mamallapuram police received information that a car parked in a residential layout at Manamai on the East Coast Road was engulfed in flames. Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot.

The fire was put out in 30 minutes and it was found that three persons – two men and a woman – were charred to death. The police are trying to ascertain their identity.
