The Department of Posts on Monday commemorated the first journey of Chennai Metro Rail between Koyambedu and Alandur by releasing a special cover on the inaugural run. The special cover, a philatelist’s delight, features the Chennai Metro Rail design and route (that originally appeared in The Hindu , and is credited as such) and some details of Metro Rail such as passenger capacity of each train, speed, travel time and number of stations. On the design of the special cover, Postmaster General (Chennai City Region), Mervin Alexander said: “We took the design from The Hindu and the covers also have image courtesy printed on them.”
