The Hindu remains Chennai’s no. 1 choice

June 21, 2012 01:59 am | Updated July 12, 2016 05:07 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Hindu remains Chennai’s most preferred English daily, as seen in the just-released findings of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) for the first quarter of 2012. The Hindu maintains a commanding average issue readership of 5.4 lakh in the metro. This figure far exceeds that of all the other English dailies put together.

In Chennai, The Hindu’s readership is 2.5 times that of The Times of India . Significantly, TheHindu’s sole readership (unduplicated) is larger than all the other English dailies in the city put together.

The Hindu, with its 133-year-long track record of editorial excellence and commitment to provide news in an interesting and engaging manner, has thus reinforced its supremacy as Chennai’s favourite English daily. The Indian Readership Survey is conducted by the MRUC-Media Research Users Council, a registered not-for-profit body of members drawn from among major advertisers, advertising agencies, publishers, and broadcast/other media organisations. Based on an internationally accepted annual sample spread, the IRS is the largest continuously done readership research study in the world. Its annual sample size exceeds 2.56 lakh respondents.
