Today, The Hindu presents Navavarana Mahotsavam .
Popular Carnatic artistes will pay tribute to composers Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi and Muttuswami Dikshitar by presenting their suite of brilliant compositions - navavaranams - specially created for Navaratri.
The event, sponsored by Suguna Pumps & Motors, is open to all and will be held at the The Music Academy, 5.30 p.m. onwards. Complimentary passes are available at the offices of The Hindu and The Music Academy from 10.30 a.m. on October 4. Parking will be available at St. Ebbas.
In this one-of-a-kind event, each artiste will render a set of two Avarana kritis that will correspond to each day of Navaratri. Both suites include a Ganesha stuti, dhyana stuti and mangala stuti.
