Central and State governments should come out with a comprehensive and long-term policy on cotton, handlooms and textile trade, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu said here on Friday.
In a statement, he said that the government should procure cotton produced by farmers at a reasonable rate and make it available to small and medium industrial units at affordable prices. It should also intervene to make sure that the yarn produced in these units is sold to textile units.
