Textbooks for the equitable system of education being introduced from the coming academic year in Classes 1 and 6 will reach schools by the first week of June, School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu told the Assembly on Tuesday. They are being printed, he said to a question from E.S.S. Raman (Congress).

On the question of introduction of moral science in the curriculum, raised by G.K. Mani (PMK), Mr. Thennarasu said that moral science would be allotted slots in the time table from the coming academic year.

More often than not the demands of other subjects such as science, maths etc. were overwhelming and took the time allotted for moral science classes.

In response to a question from D. Sudarssanam (Congress), Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said community halls would be built in villages that did not have one.
