Telangana Congress MPs slam report

January 07, 2011 01:36 am | Updated November 17, 2021 03:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Hours after the voluminous Justice Srikrishna Committee report was made public by the Centre, Congress MPs from Telangana slammed the recommendations and vowed to build up pressure on the Centre and .the party to introduce a Bill on Telangana in the budget session of Parliament.

At least eight Parliament members from the region rushed to the office of Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy and were closeted with him.

Despite, the high command's diktat that no Congress MPs should air their views in public, the Telangana MPs openly denounced the report.

Convenor of the AP Congress MP's Forum and Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar said the report was just not acceptable to them.

“As MPs we continuously raised the issue and now the responsibility of taking it forward lies with Mr. Jaipal Reddy, who should work for fulfilment of the aspirations of the Telangana people,” Mr. Prabhakar said.
