A 23-year-old IT professional died in a road accident in Kandanchavadi on Monday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another two-wheeler. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Sources with the Guindy traffic investigation identified the deceased as M. Jaganathan, a resident of Vasanth Nagar, Kaladipettai. He was on his way to get an application form in order to pursue an MBA programme.

Around 12.30 p.m., he was on the intersection of Kandanchavadi Main Road and Nehru Nagar 1 Cross Street when his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle ridden by Subramani (23) of Pulianthope.

Both the motorcyclists suffered head injuries as they were not wearing helmets. While Jaganathan died on the way to a hospital, Subramani is battling for life at a private hospital in Adyar.

Jaganathan was an employee of a well-known IT firm and had planned to quit his job and pursue his studies.

His father Murali is an employee of an English newspaper.

Subramani was heading home after receiving his motorcycle from a service station nearby.
