TASMAC bar employee murdered by gang in Chennai

December 06, 2013 03:15 am | Updated 03:15 am IST - CHENNAI:

An armed gang murdered a 30-year-old employee of a TASMAC bar in Vyasarpadi on Wednesday night. Police suspect the reason was an argument between the victim and three men who had drunk at the bar.

MKB Nagar police sources said Durairaj (30), a resident of Moorthingar Street, Sanjay Colony in Vyasarpadi, was working as a bearer at the bar attached to the TASMAC outlet on the same street. “On Wednesday evening, three men who had come to drink at the bar got into an argument with Durairaj over some issue related to his service. The trio threatened the victim with dire consequences and walked out of the bar,” said an investigating officer.

Around 11.30 p.m., Durairaj finished work and was walking home. He was intercepted by a gang and hacked with knives and sickles. As the area was deserted, Durairaj lay unattended and bled profusely. Sometime later, a passer-by spotted him and alerted the police.

A team from MKB Nagar police station reached the spot and rushed Durairaj to the Government Stanley hospital but he died enroute, sources added.
