The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on Monday called for applications for undergraduate programmes for 2018-19 on its web portal.
Applications can be downloaded till 6 p.m. on June 6 and the last date for sending in the application forms is 5.45 p.m. on June 11.
Candidates applying for the B. Tech programmes, such as food technology, poultry technology and dairy technology, can buy a single application and choose the course during the counselling based on their rank in the pooled B. Tech course rank list, the university said.
A total of 360 seats in the five-and-half year B. V.Sc and AH programme are available at the Madras Veterinary College and Veterinary Colleges and Research Institutes in Namakkal, Tirunelveli and Orathanadu.
A total of 40 seats each in the four-year B Tech (food technology) and B. Tech (poultry technology) and 20 seats in B. Tech (dairy technology) are available. Around 15% of the 360 B. V.Sc seats will be reserved for candidates selected by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). Similarly, 15% of the 100 seats in the B. Tech programmes are reserved for candidates selected by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
NEET must all-India quota
Earlier, it was announced that aspirants for the all-India quota must have cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test.
From this year, aspirants under the non-resident Indian (NRI) quota will have to apply online. The university reserves nine seats in B. V.Sc for NRIs; five for foreign nationals; and two for Jammu and Kashmir migrants. Two seats each are reserved for foreign nationals and NRI in B.Tech (food technology).
Last year, the university received 23,021 applications, an increase of 26% in applicants over the previous year, officials said. The last date for applications from NRIs/NRI-sponsored foreign nationals is June 30. Kashmir migrants should get their applications endorsed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and mail it to the registrar of Tanuvas before July 11.
