Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board issues 113 appointment orders

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin handed over appointment orders for the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board to 113 persons, among whom 37 were recruited as assistant engineers, 30 as junior assistants and 46 as bill collectors. Suba Thangavelan, Minister for Slum Clearance, Ashok Dongre, Housing and Urban Development Secretary and T.K. Ramachandran, Managing Director of the Board, were among those present.

Mr. Stalin also presented appointment orders to 24 persons who were recruited in the Highways Department. Of them, 23 were record clerks and one audit assistant. In total, 1,439 posts have been filled in the department since 2006.

Stalin releases Chennai Marathon logo

Around 30,000 participants are expected to take part in the eighth edition of the Chennai Marathon to be held on February 21.

Races will be held in different categories of the marathon, to be organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT).

M.K. Stalin released the logo of the event and launched the website on Tuesday.

Apart from online registration, those who want to participate in the event can register themselves at all the stadiums under the Authority’s control in the city and the SDAT headquarters. Prizes amounting to Rs. 20 lakh will be distributed to winners of the categories.

To participate in the full marathon (distance to be covered:42.2 km) and half marathon (21.1 km) events, it is mandatory to undergo a medical check up one day prior to the race. A medical centre at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Periamet has been opened for this purpose, according to an official release.
