G. Mallika, 55, of Musarawalkam, near here, is said to have died of H1N1 infection.

According to her family, Mallika suffered from fever and respiratory problems a few days before Deepavali and took treatment at a private hospital for a few days before she was referred to a private medical college hospital at Porur.

On the night of November 14, she was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. She died there at 4.30 a.m. on November 15, her son G. Gopi said. “While handing over the body fully covered with white cloth, the doctors asked us not to remove the cloth and cremate it in flames as my mother died due to suspected swine flu infection,” he added.
