As part of World Tuberculosis Day, observed on March 24, Resource Group for Education and Advocacy for Community Health (Reach) is conducting a campaign, led by actor Suriya, to rope in people from all walks of life to conduct awareness events.

According to a press release, TB is a major public health problem and sensitising people about the basic facts is necessary to control the disease. Every year, World TB Day is observed to create awareness on this treatable and curable disease.

Reach’s campaign will highlight the fact that since TB spreads through air, everybody is at risk. Those who wish to volunteer may call and register for the campaign, following which they will get a campaign kit. This can be used to conduct the programme for friends, families, colleagues, students and neighbours, between March 23 and 30.

After conducting the event, feedback should be sent to Reach by April 4. The best 30 campaign events will be recognised at a function.

Participants will receive a letter of appreciation from actor Suriya. Those interested in taking the message of TB prevention to their communities can contact Reach at 65211047 and 28132099.
