Surface area at Broadway bus terminus in a shambles

Commuters have a tough time moving around

The surface area at the Broadway bus terminus wears a severely battered look.

Moreover, the premises of the terminus is used as a thoroughfare by motorists from Narayanappa Road, seeking to enter NSC Bose Road. Motorists from Narayanappa Road should go through Frazer Bridge Road and Rattan Bazaar Road to enter NSC Bose Road.

There are huge craters and potholes at several points along the stretch. Vehicle users have to be extra cautious while travelling on the stretch.

The area abutting the route numbers 6 (Thiruvanmiyur – Broadway), 7B (Korattur –Broadway), 21G (Tambaram – Broadway) and 21GX (Vandalur Zoo – Broadway) bus bays is worse.

During rains, the area abutting the bus bays becomes unmotorable. We face a tough time driving and parking the vehicles, say the crew of MTC route numbers.

Due to the combination of insufficient illumination and a pitted surface, commuters have fallen down while locating their route numbers, commuters said.

There is no illumination in the walking area. A high-mast lighting system, facilitated near the entrance from Narayanappa Road, fails to provide good illumination.

Illumination from commercial establishments abutting the bays acts as a saving grace for commuters.

We have complained to the drivers and conductors, and the authorities concerned at the terminus about the condition of surface area. But, no efforts have so far been taken to address the issue, say commuters.

The bus terminus is one of the most crowded termini in the city. Route numbers from the terminus almost plies to almost every nook and corner of the city.

An MTC official has promised to visit the terminus and do the needful.
