Summer workshop at Anna library

April 09, 2011 03:16 am | Updated November 17, 2021 03:25 am IST - CHENNAI:

This summer holidays, children will have more reasons to visit Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram. The library, for the first time, is organising summer workshop on weekends.

Aiming at more visitors

From story telling sessions to yoga classes to painting, the activities are aimed at increasing the number of visitors to the library.

The library receives nearly 1,200 members everyday and 3,500 visitors on weekends. With summer vacations, officials say, it wants more people to make use of the different sections that are open to children as well as adults.

The children's programme starts from April 16 with a Tamil drama ‘Kadal Bootham', which would be enacted by Velu Saravanan and his team. “This is purely going to be an interactive theatre where there is no time limit and children are sure to enjoy as much as they can,” said Mr. Saravanan, founder of Aazhi Children's Theatre Group, who has performed 3,500 shows of the drama.

An art event ‘My Hanky', dance programme ‘Naattiya Sangamam' and colouring event are some of the activities planned.

Details of the activities will be updated on http://annacentenarylibrary.
