Sugar mill workers threaten fast

Sugar mill workers are planning to go on indefinite strike from February 16 if the government fails to meet their demands on wage revision.A meeting between the union members, Labour Department officials and Director of Sugars was held here on Tuesday.

“The meeting was not a success, but there was some progress. If our demands are not met with we would be forced to go on strike from February 16,” said K Elavari, president of Tami Nadu Co-operative and Public Sector Sugar Mills Trade Union Federation Joint Action Committee.
