Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has obtained a stay on the Hindi remake of his smash hit Tamil film, Jigarthanda , which managed to do well at the box office and get noticed by the critics.
In a statement, Karthik Subbaraj accused Jigarthanda’s producer, Kathiresan, of short-changing him by selling the Hindi-remake without his knowledge. He claims in the statement: “As per the contract I signed for the movie, it was assured that I will be given 40 per cent of the revenue generated through selling the Hindi language remake rights. It recently came to my attention that Mr. Kathiresan had tried to seal the deal without my knowledge.”
Despite taking the matter to Tamil Nadu Film Directors’ Association and the Tamil Film Producers Council, Mr. Subbaraj claims that he couldn’t bring the producer to the negotiating table. “I then approached the Madras High Court, which has issued a stay until June 11, 2015,” he says.
Krish goes from singing to acting
After a nine-year-long career as a film playback singer, Krish’s dream has finally taken shape. His debut film ‘Puriyatha Anandam Pudithaga Arambam’ is set to release in June.
He springs up a surprise when he reveals that he came to Kollywood to act and chanced upon singing opportunities that he later embraced as a career. “I have been listening to scripts for a while now. This is more of a feel good movie. Usually, films set in the backdrop of Madurai revolve around violence but ‘ Puriyatha Anandam Pudithaga Arambam’ is a romantic movie ,” said Krish who is paired with actor Srushti Dange.
Directed by Thambi Syed Ibrahim, the film was shot for 75 days. Recalling memorable moments, Krish said: “In one of the scenes, I had to fall off the bus and it really happened. We shot in forest locales around Kuttralam.”
Reihana Sekar has scored music for the film. For Krish, it is a double treat on June 5 as his music album with music composer Vijay Ebenezer is also slated to release on the same day. “I plan to concentrate both on acting and singing,” he adds.
