Students to produce global news relay

Students of Asian College of Journalism (ACJ) will team up with counterparts from across the world to produce news for 12 continuous hours on March 27.

According to a release, each host institution will transmit the programme for up to two hours. The topics covered in the marathon broadcast will include India’s general elections, social media, gay marriage, and the Salford music festival. The Global News Relay will begin at 9 a.m. on March 27 and the team from the college has been allotted a slot from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The transmission will be broadcast online at www.quaysnews.net.

Sarah Jones, journalism lecturer of Salford University, Manchester, U.K., will co-ordinate the project along with representatives of the other institutions — RMIT, Melbourne; Manipal University, Dubai; Volda University College, Norway; and West Texas A&M University, U.S.
