It is not often that students from mofussil areas crack the prestigious All India Pre-Medical/Dental Examination. So when K.P. Abhishek, a student of St. Joseph Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chengalpattu cracked the examination, it was a moment of great pride for the school, his friends, teachers and more importantly, his parents. Abhishek has obtained a medical seat on merit through the AIPMT examination.
He has been very passionate of becoming a doctor from a very young age, as his parents, both of them from the medical fraternity, were of great influence on his life. His father K.P. Pichumani is a Diabetologist, while his mother Anuradha is a Obstetrician and Gynecologist.
The doctor couple has set up a 50-bed multi-speciality hospital – Sree Renga Hospital in Chengalpattu, established more than 20 years ago.
AIPMT Exams are based only on NCERT (CBSE) syllabus and even students in mainstream CBSE schools find it difficult to get a medical seat through the extremely competitive exam.
Abhishek has been studying in a State board school with great determination and hard work and has been studying CBSE text books of Classes XI and XII along with his State Board syllabus.
