While some children may have easy access to Tinkle comics and Harry Potter books, for many others, getting books that are not school-related is highly difficult, said P.S. Nandini, a class XII student of Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School.

The idea to set up libraries for economically-backward students in local schools won her the first place at the ‘Changemakers Conference’ organised by Bhavans Rajaji Vidyashram on Saturday. Hers was one of 108 entries.

The conference was a part of ‘The Bait’, a debating competition, which saw participation from over 70 schools across four cities, school authorities said.
