December 06, 2013 03:02 am | Updated 03:02 am IST - CHENNAI:

A 19-year-old polytechnic student died on campus in Pulianthope on Thursday morning after he reportedly slipped and fell from the third floor.

The victim’s parents claimed the accident took place after the institute authorities made the student paint a building on campus.

The police identified the deceased as Joel Munikrishnan, a second-year student of airconditioner maintenance at the private institute on Decoster Road. Around 11.30 a.m., Joel, a native of Arakkonam, allegedly fell from the third floor of a building under renovation.

He suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead. Joel’s parents and relatives protested outside the institute on Thursday evening.

No representative from the institute was available for comment. A probe is on.
