Stay on case against Gautham Menon

The Madras High Court has granted an interim stay till February 3 on all further proceedings in a criminal case registered by the City Central Crime Branch against Tamil director-producer Gautham Vasudev Menon for alleged cheating and criminal breach of trust.

Justice C.T. Selvam passed the interim order on a petition by Mr. Menon and three others.

The police had registered a complaint lodged by a film producer, R. Jayaraman of R.S. Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. According to police, the allegation was that Mr. Menon and his four associates, who were part of his production company, had cheated the complainant to the tune of Rs. 1.98 crore.

The Judge ordered notice of admission. He posted the matter for February 3. There will be an interim stay on the proceedings till then, he said.
