With AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa calling the DMK a party of “goondas” and “rowdies” repeatedly in public meetings, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin promised to provide a clean government and take action against even erring members of the Assembly if voted to power.
“When the DMK comes to power, there will be no katta panchayat and there won’t be any political interference in functioning of police department.
“I will ensure a government free from commission, corruption and collection,” he said, in response to Ms. Jayalalithaa’s taunts.
At a public meeting at Ramana Nagar, Perambur falling under Kolathur constituency from where he is contesting for second consecutive time, he recalled his experiences gained during his state-wide interactive campaign N amakku Naame.
“Pesalam Vanga , an interactive meeting with Kolathur residents, encouraged me to interact with people from across the State to learn about their grievances,” he said emphasising that politicians must reach out to people instead of people approaching politicians with grievances.
Just like in his other campaign meetings, he sang a few lines from old classics to entertain the crowd.
‘Manifesto copied’
Lashing out at Jayalalitha-led government as ‘sticker rule’, he said the AIADMK’s delayed manifesto was nothing but DMK’s manifesto with an AIADMK sticker.
Asking the voters to teach the corrupt rulers a fitting lesson in the Assembly elections, he took an oath to develop Kolathur as a model constituency in the State.
Responding to Jayalalithaa’s taunts, he says he would put an end to katta panchayat
