DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin has sought the setting up of an experts committee, with top academicians from institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology, to suggest specific measures for improving the quality of engineering education in the State.
“It is deeply concerning that the engineering colleges under the control of Anna University have been steadily losing in quality,” he said on Thursday.
Observing that 47 per cent of engineering students who appeared for the November-December semester examination had failed, Mr. Stalin accused the AIADMK of being disinterested in maintaining the standard of education in engineering colleges. The government should realise that employability is directly linked to engineering education, he said in a statement.
