Employees of urban co-operative banks in the State went on a token strike on Wednesday pressing for a charter of demands, including implementation of all issues agreed upon during negotiations with the Registrar of Co-operative Societies on July 24, 2008.

According to a release from K. Tamilarasu, general secretary of the Co-operative Bank Employees Federation (Tamil Nadu), a major demand was conduct of talks for concluding a wage agreement effective from July 1, 2006. All vacancies should be filled and appointments made for the posts of Writer and last grade employees.

All those who had completed 15 years of service should be given a promotion or new fitment. All urban co-operative bank employees should be given increment in connection with computerisation.
