A bundle of answer scripts of the SSLC public examinations sent by the Education Department by Rockfort Express bound for Tiruchi was found on the railway track in a damaged state near the Vriddhachalam station on Friday.

Educational Department sources confirmed to The Hindu that these were answer scripts of the SSLC public examination (Tamil Paper-II) conducted on Thursday at the B.Mutlur examination centre. Two bundles of answer scripts, numbering 177, were sent by the RMS service.

While one bundle contained the scripts of students of the B.Mutlur government school, the other contained those of students of four schools, including government schools at Velangipattu and Kothattai, Akshaya Mandir and Annai Sathya high school.

The sources, however, were not clear which bundle had fallen on the railway track, and whether all the answer scripts were damaged. On information, Chief Educational Officer C.Joseph Anthony Raj and other officials rushed to the railway station to conduct an inquiry.

The sources recalled that about five years ago answer scripts of Plus Two public examinations were found scattered on the railway track at Tiruchi.

As they were fully damaged, the Director of Government Examinations ordered re-examination in the subject.

In the present case, a decision could be taken only on the basis of the outcome of the inquiry, the sources added.
