On May 17, counselling for engineering courses for the academic year of 2015 in SRM University began at its Kattankulathur campus.
The first phase of counselling which saw as many as 2,000 students participating, will be on till May 24. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, chancellor of the university T R Parivendhar said about 1 lakh applications were received seeking admissions for various courses.
Adding that the university was a multi-disciplinary institution, he underlined that students studying here could get exposure to facets of various disciplines.
Chancellor Parivendar further pointed to the need of sanctioning more funds for research without bias to private and government educational institutions.
He emphasised that about 6 percent of GDP of the nation had to be spent for education if it is to receive a boost in the country.
