The staff of Spencer's retail outlets launched a clean-up drive in Abhiramapuram and Mandaveli on Thursday morning as part of the 'Clean India' campaign.

Prasad, business manager of the Spencer's, in charge of operations in south and west, said the campaign is part of their obligation to the society.

"We want to tell customers that we are not only interested in doing business but also want to be a socially responsible organisation."

He said Spencer's has 21 outlets in Chennai. He hopes to carry forward the campaign in areas covered by all these outlets.

Altogether 50 staff took part in Thursday's cleaning campaign that went on from 7 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., he said.
