Tired of waiting to get your apprenticeship training certificate to help find a job? Soon, it should take less than two weeks to get a digitally signed certificate.
The Board of Apprenticeship Training (southern region), an autonomous body of the ministry of human resource development, Department of Higher Education, is working on issuing digitally signed certificates to apprentice trainees who have completed their training with employers registered with the Board.
“Previously it took over two months to issue a certificate. We are now working on reducing the time to 15 days,” said A. Ayyakkannu, director, of the board.
The process will be rolled out in July and Cognizant Technology Solutions will undertake the project, he said. The board’s portal, www.boat-srp.com currently has 14,000 candidates registered, which includes graduate and technician apprentices. Training with stipends in about 128 fields in engineering and technology are covered. A total of 3,500 industries are registered with the board.
“This year, we want to place at least 40,000 apprentices as well as increase the employer count,” Mr. Ayyakkannu said.
