The cyber crime cell of the CB-CID arrested a Chennai-based software engineer and his wife on Tuesday on charges of hosting websites carrying obscene pictures and videos of children.
According to sources, sleuths of the cyber crime cell received information that two websites, www.cutecandid.net and www.indianshowgirls.
com, were displaying the images and videos of children.
Investigation revealed that Siddhattha Velu, a software engineer, and his wife Priscilla Margaret Dhanaraj, residents of Sholinganallur, were linked with these websites and their email ids were connected to these websites.
The sleuths also found that membership payment to the tune of Rs. 2.4 crore for www.cutecandid.net was credited into the account of Velu at a bank in Bengaluru.
A case was registered under the Information Technology Act and the CB-CID officers raided the house of the couple in Sholinganallur. Evidence linking the couple with these two websites and also three other sites have been recovered and seized, police said.
