Software engineer robbed at MRTS station

A software engineer was allegedly robbed at knife-point at Thiruvanmiyur MRTS station on Wednesday.

According to police sources, Arun (25) of Coimbatore is staying in R.A. Puram and employed in an IT firm at Tidel Park.

He was entering the MRTS station after work on Wednesday evening, when an unidentified youth threatened him to part with his wallet and other valuables.

When Arun offered resistance, he brandished a knife and tried to attack him.

As the victim ducked, the accused snatched his gold chain and wallet and escaped. Arun lodged a complaint with the Egmore railway police.

Security was stepped up at MRTS stations following the murder of a youth in the Mandaveli MRTS station recently. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel were deployed for patrolling, the sources added.
