Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Madhanangkuppam, organised a felicitation ceremony for social reformers to show their veneration and respect for the people who lay down their life for the cause of the needy and neglected sections of the society on August 6.
Political / Economic Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Joseph Bertini, presided over the function and honoured the personalities. V. Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya; Vijayakumar Bafna, President, Rajasthani Association; Rev. Sr. Mary Theodore O.A.M., Honorary Secretary, MITHRA; Dr. Uma Rajkumar, Chairman, Family Planning Centre, Guild of Service; G.K. Dhas, Managing Trustee, Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa Charitable Trust and V. Sandeep, Chairman, Friend’s Trust, were the social reformers felicitated.
Dr. Muthusami Kumaran, Assistant Professor, Non-Profit Management and Community Organisations Family, Youth and Community Sciences, Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences, University of Florida, U.S., Dr. Leela, STEM GRANTS coordinator, University of Florida, U.S. Ms. Janani Muthusami Kumaran and 14 students from the University of Florida were the special guests.
Soka Ikeda College Principal, Rani Christhu Dhas, welcomed the gathering. Sethu Kumanan, Chairman, Kogilam Kumanan, Secretary and P. Ranjithakani, Advisor of the college, felicitated the social reformers. The plaque, which was erected in commemoration with the event, was unveiled by Mr. Joseph Bertini. Cultural programmes were conducted by the students of Florida University.
