Simplicity and divinity are the essence of art and there should be efforts to make our rich art and culture known to the entire world, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said here on Wednesday.

Speaking at the inauguration of Bharat Sangeet Utsav 2017 organised by Carnatica and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, he said: “More young children should be motivated to learn Carnatic and Hindustani music and Bharatanatyam. The richness of our art forms should be passed on to our younger generation.

Aruna Sairam, vice-chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademy, said: “National integration binds and unites us. Today, we will be singing patriotic songs in different languages as a tribute to Bharat Mata and there will be 300 children singing along with me.”
