Sri Sarma Sastrigal, author of several publications on rituals and practices related to Sanatana Dharma has come up with ‘Achamanam,’ a Tamil-English volume. “It is a simple procedure, which is often neglected because its significance is not realised and hence the book,” explains Sarma Sastrigal (9444380973).

Recently Sri Sarma Sastrigal initiated 108 couples into Panchayatana, worship of five forces – Siva, Surya, Ganesa, Vishnu and Ambal.

The speciality is that the five are represented as stones sourced from five different rivers. “This ancient practice, which sums up Saiva-Vaishnava unity, is not being pursued these days. The idea is to create an awareness and bring people into the fold,” says Sarma Sastrigal.

Those who were initiated into the ritual held at Sri Narayaneeyammal Marriage Hall were given a puja set and a book that explains the ritual.

Also, they were blessed through the Anugraha Bhashanam of Sri Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Math, during his Chennai camp.
