A silver armour weighing 25 kg went missing from the residence of an yesteryear actor in Nungambakkam. A police probe is underway.

Nungambakkam police sources said the theft was reported by one Ganesan, manager of Tamil cine actor Jayachitra, on Saturday morning. The armour was dedicated to the deity at a temple located at the actor’s house on Lynwood Lane, Mahalingapuram.

On April 24, the actor and her family conducted a pooja and placed the silver armour in an almirah at home soon after. A few days later, the ornament went missing. Subsequently, her manager Ganesan approached the Nungambakkam police.

A Nungambakkam police team registered a case and has begun a probe. Police are now examining footage from the CCTV cameras installed at the actor’s residence. Staff members are being questioned by investigators on the disappearance of the ornament, police sources added.
