Serving through music

Now-a-days, one can hear and watch many service organisations and individuals doing free service to the needy in various ways. Some assist financially, some physically while some lend moral support.

A group of six students from Villivakkam do service by singing for the needy. The senior girl, Sridevi, a Class IX student says that the group believes in the concept of ‘Sangeetham, Sukham, Sthiram, Santhosham.’

The girls studying in Classes VI to IX to 9 in local schools have been inspired by their teacher Sathyabama and have taken up the service of singing devotional songs and bhajans for those who like to listen to songs during festivals or any occasions, by visiting their houses.

Says Ms. Sathyabhama: “As they are still students studying, they need a guide to support and accompany them.”

Old age homes, individuals, orphanages can contact them to utilise their service, says Ms. Sathyabhama, a resident of Villivakkam.

Those who would like to join this troupe to accompany on tabla, mridangam, kanjira, violin or keyboard, can contact 94440 10215.
