The second phase of training for polling officials was held in all 16 constituencies of the city on Sunday.
Inspecting the progress of the training programme in the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said that the arrangements for postal ballot voting have been made for the polling officials.
The third phase of training would be held on April 12. Mr. Kumar said that flying squads were keeping an eye on violations of the model code of conduct.
Over 1,000 officials participated in the training programme in each of the 16 locations. The polling stations, where the officials would be on duty, would be intimated to them on April 12.
A total of 1,500 officials have already submitted Form 12 for inclusion of their names in the postal ballot voting.
Instructions have been issued that the procedure of postal ballot voting be explained at the training sessions. All of them have been issued postal ballots.
Distribution of booth slips is under way and those who do not receive it may contact 1913, the toll free helpline of the Chennai Corporation. District Election Officer and Corporation Commissioner D.Karthikeyan were present.
