A fishing boat which went missing with five fishermen on board on Saturday is yet to be located, even as the Coast Guard intensified its search using patrol vessels and aircraft.
According to an ICG release, the boat was reported missing since 1 pm on May 23.
Following an alert at its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at Chennai, the Coast Guard diverted ICGS Rajtarang and an interceptor boat for a search and rescue mission.
Eventually, the aviation wing of the Coast Guard joined the search as sorties were made by a Dornier and Chetak helicopters over the seascape.

“The search and rescue efforts are going on in full swing. A total of 17 hours by aircraft and 60 hours by ships have been logged till now,” the release said.
