Scuffle ends in murder

One person was allegedly murdered by a rag-picker at Otteri here on Tuesday evening.

According to police sources, the accused Ravi (22) of Kosapetai who was in an inebriated condition entered into an argument with Asaithami (25), a painter of Old Vazhaima Nagar. In the scuffle that followed, Ravi stabbed Asaithambi with a knife. The victim was admitted to the Stanley Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Pulianthope) N. Baskaran said that a special team formed to investigate the case arrested Ravi.

“We had information that the accused fell while escaping and suffered injuries'', he said, adding that the team found that Ravi got treated in one of the hospitals located nearby.

Mr. Baskaran said that the accused was arrested when he was escaping to Kosapettai.
