The Juvenile Justice Board has written to the Director of School Education and police authorities on the increasing menace of underage driving in the city.

The letter said, “We are repeatedly coming across school children between the ages of 15 and 18 getting involved in various traffic offences. In some cases, deaths also were reported. We came to understand that some children are coming to schools on two-wheelers. Children below the age of 18 cannot hold a licence and should not be allowed to ride any motor vehicle.” The board members said it was important to bring this to the knowledge of school authorities.
