The Akila India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, led by actor R. Sarath Kumar was allotted two seats in the AIADMK alliance on Thursday.

Mr. Sarath Kumar, along with leaders of various Nadar organisations, met AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence and signed the agreement. Later, talking to reporters, Mr. Sarath Kumar said the number of seats did not matter to his party as its objective was to bring down the “corrupt” DMK regime.

Identification of constituencies and a decision on election symbol would be taken soon, he added. A few days ago, Mr. Sarath Kumar brought together various Nadar organisations and vowed to “restore” the community's importance in State politics. Though their plan was to launch a new political outfit, they decided to face the current elections under the Akila India Samathuva Makkal Katchi.
